Continuous Improvement
Programs
Continuous improvement
is a business strategy for reducing the cost of business by adopting
systematic methods for identifying and resolving non-productive
procedures and practices.
Continuous improvement
strategies usually involve team approaches to organization structure.
All employees are provided with tools appropriate to their own needs.
Employees use the tools to identify and remedy non-conformances,
and to identify and capitalize on opportunities. Non-conformances
and opportunities are by definition small and incremental.
The typical measure
we use to help understand the potential savings involved in continuous
improvement is the "Cost of Quality" ... a simple formula showing
how the cost of correcting an error is actually three times the
actual cost of the error.
